With 13,040 additional urban historical sites listed in the National Urban historical Register, the Heritage Commission of Saudi Arabia has declared that there are 17,495 registered sites altogether across the Kingdom.

Covering many areas that illustrate Saudi Arabia's rich history and varied legacy, these recently added landmarks make major additions to the cultural scene of the nation.

The newly registered sites are spread over several parts of the Kingdom; the most are found in Madinah (3,273 sites), then Riyadh (1,950 sites), and Al-Baha (1,531 sites). Other areas also made significant contributions of recently recognized heritage sites: Hail (1,525 sites), Qassim (1,400 sites), and Asir (972 sites). Additional sites recorded in places include the Eastern Province, Makkah, Al-Jouf, Jazan, Najran, Tabuk, and the Northern Borders.
