Dubai's RTA slashes vehicle licensing services to boost efficiency and digital transformation.

In a significant move towards enhancing its smart services, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has reduced the number of vehicle licensing services from 54 to a mere 14. This strategic action represents a 74 percent reduction aimed at streamlining operations, boosting customer satisfaction, and furthering the emirate’s smart transformation objectives.

Dubai Vehicle Licensing

This change is a key component of the “360 Comprehensive Services” plan, a forward-thinking initiative focused on reengineering public services. It involves integrating advanced digital technologies, simplifying processes, and aligning with the vision of establishing Dubai as the world’s foremost digital city.

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency at RTA, emphasized the authority’s commitment: "The RTA is dedicated to turning Dubai into a global leader in smart road and transport systems, setting a benchmark for seamless, sustainable, and innovative mobility. This plan also supports Dubai's aim to be globally recognized for excellence in government services."

"The integration of services marks a substantial progression, enabling a reengineering of vehicle licensing procedures. This approach simplifies the customer's experience, reduces the number of steps and necessary visits, and decreases processing times," he added.

Impact on Dubai Drivers and Vehicle Owners

The reform significantly simplifies the vehicle licensing process, with key highlights including:

  • Request for Vehicle Registration Certificate: Previously, this involved 13 separate steps but has been condensed into a single streamlined process.
  • Export and Transfer Services: Previously spread across six different services, these have been consolidated into one simplified transaction under “Vehicle Registration Cancellation.”
  • Plate Delivery Integration: Customers can now complete the plate collection process remotely, fully integrated with UAE Pass and delivery systems.

This comprehensive service overhaul is bolstered by advanced technologies and real-time data integration with local and federal government entities. The result is faster transaction times, reduced physical touchpoints, enhanced sustainability and operational efficiency, and improved service for both individual and corporate users.
