The RTA launches a new lane project aimed at reducing travel time on key Dubai roads by August.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated the construction of an 850-meter lane that will connect Ras Al Khor Road to the Nad Al Hamar Intersection. This development is accompanied by the widening of a storage lane for vehicles turning left from Al Rebat Street at the intersection.
As part of the 2025 Rapid Traffic Improvements – Summer 2025 Plan, this ambitious project aims to alleviate congestion along two critical corridors in Dubai. The undertaking is expected to reach completion by the end of August.
The introduction of this new lane promises a capacity increase of 33 percent, boosting traffic flow from 4,800 to 6,400 vehicles per hour. As a result, travel time is projected to decrease from 15 minutes to approximately 11 minutes, with peak evening traffic flow improving by as much as 27 percent.
Traffic Enhancements in Dubai
The enhancement of the storage lane will further mitigate queuing issues at the Nad Al Hamar Intersection, facilitating smoother vehicular movement towards Ras Al Khor Road.
This infrastructure upgrade has been strategically designed to cater to traffic headed toward Nad Al Hamar and adjacent areas including Al Rashidiya, Al Qusais, and Dubai International Airport. It aims to bolster connectivity between residential communities and prominent destinations.
The RTA anticipates that these improvements will significantly enhance daily mobility, road safety, and overall quality of life for residents across these regions.
