Dubai's Roads & Transport Authority updates metro routes during peak hours for smoother commutes.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced a modification to the metro route during peak hours between the Centerpoint and Al Fardan Exchange stations. This initiative aims to provide a more seamless and convenient commuting experience, alleviating congestion within both the stations and metro cars.
In a video shared across its digital platforms, the RTA detailed that there are currently three routes operating on the Dubai Metro, particularly during peak times. The first route runs from Centerpoint Station towards Life Pharmacy Station before returning. The second extends from Centerpoint to Expo 2020 Station and back. Additionally, there is now an added route from Centerpoint to Al Fardan Exchange (formerly known as Al Khail) Station and return during peak periods, which contributes to shorter travel times for more efficient daily commutes.
The authority indicated that peak hours on the Dubai Metro are identified as from 7 AM to 9 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM. It encouraged passengers to plan their journeys ahead of time and regularly check auditory announcements inside stations to ensure smooth arrival at their desired destinations.
Recently, RTA replaced signage across all metro stations with newly designed signs. Collaborating with Keolis-MHI, this plan was developed to simplify passenger navigation on both the metro and tram systems. Technical teams at the Rail Agency implemented a comprehensive update of directional signs across all Red Line and Green Line stations. As part of this initiative, approximately 9,000 signs were installed or replaced, involving roughly 11,000 hours of labor.
