West Indies middle-order batter Roston Chase has joined an elite list of cricketers after crossing the 1,000-run milestone in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

He achieved the feat during the first match of the three-game series against Pakistan at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Although West Indies couldn’t secure the win, Chase stood out with a composed 53 runs off 54 balls, becoming the 41st West Indian to pass the 1,000-run mark in ODIs.

A Steady Knock Under Pressure
When Chase walked in to bat, West Indies were struggling at 136/4.

He partnered with captain Shai Hope to build a valuable 64-run stand that brought some stability to the innings. His half-century-his sixth in ODIs-featured four boundaries and a six.

Chase eventually fell to Naseem Shah in the 45th over, but his efforts, along with contributions from Evin Lewis and Hope, helped West Indies post 280 runs before being bowled out in 49 overs.

Career Milestone
At 33 years old, Chase now has 1,006 ODI runs in 61 matches, averaging 26.47 with a strike rate of 76.97. His personal best in the format remains 94, and this was his first-ever ODI match against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Run Chase
Chasing 281, Pakistan got off to a shaky start as Saim Ayub (5) and Abdullah Shafique (29) departed early. A 55-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan (53) and Babar Azam (47) steadied things, but the team soon slipped to 180/5.

That’s when Hasan Nawaz (63)* and Hussain Talat (41)* took charge, adding an unbeaten 104-run partnership to guide Pakistan to victory in 48.5 overs.
