Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, received a phone call today, Tuesday, from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, to discuss the ongoing military escalation in the region and its potential impact on regional and international security and stability.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the call reviewed ways to resolve all disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing Qatar’s continuous efforts to remain neutral in regional conflicts and facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community.
During the call, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman reiterated Qatar’s condemnation of Iranian attacks on Qatari territory, stressing that they are unacceptable “under any pretext,” and warned against irresponsible targeting of critical infrastructure, particularly facilities related to water, food, and energy, noting that such actions set dangerous precedents threatening the region’s populations.
He also emphasized the immediate cessation of any escalatory actions, a return to dialogue, prioritizing reason and wisdom, and working to contain the crisis in a manner that preserves regional security and stability.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in turn, called for de-escalation, prioritizing reason, returning to negotiations, and using diplomatic channels to avoid further chaos, highlighting the importance of dialogue and international cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
