Qatar condemns Iran's missile attack on Al-Udeid Air Base, asserting it as a violation of sovereignty and international law. Qatar reserves the right to respond while advocating for dialogue and restraint to preserve regional stability.
DOHA - The State of Qatar has firmly condemned a missile assault launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aimed at Al-Udeid Air Base. Qatar characterized the attack as a blatant breach of its sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the UN Charter.
In a statement issued late Monday, the Qatari government confirmed its air defenses successfully intercepted the incoming missiles, with no injuries or casualties reported. The base had been preemptively evacuated as part of increased security measures amid escalating regional tensions.
"Qatar reserves the right to respond directly in a manner corresponding to the nature and extent of this brazen aggression," the statement declared, stressing that any response would comply with international law.
The Ministry of Defense is expected to release a comprehensive report detailing the circumstances of the attack. The Qatari government emphasized that ongoing military escalation threatens to destabilize the region and could have disastrous implications for global peace and security.
Doha reiterated its persistent call for restraint and dialogue, stating: "We reaffirm that dialogue is the only way to overcome the current crises and ensure the security of the region and the peace of its people."
Qatar also pointed out that it was among the earliest nations to caution against the risks posed by escalating Israeli military actions in the region and has consistently advocated for diplomatic solutions and the principles of good-neighborliness.
