Qatar Airways partners with Barzan Holdings and Satys Aerospace to open the Middle East's first digital aircraft painting facility, enhancing aviation capabilities in the region.

Qatar Airways has entered into a strategic agreement with Barzan Holdings and Satys Aerospace to establish the Middle East's first widebody aircraft painting facility featuring digital technology. This innovative project will be located at Dukhan Air Base and is the result of a long-term partnership designed to advance Qatar’s aviation sector by enhancing local capabilities, transferring technology, and fostering innovation.

This pioneering facility will be the first of its kind in the region, housing two widebody paint facilities and a multipurpose hangar dedicated to light maintenance activities. It is equipped to accommodate commercial, VIP, and military aircraft, and aims to reduce aircraft ground time by enabling painting services locally, thereby avoiding the need for aircraft to be flown overseas for livery changes or repainting.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, hailed the partnership as a strategic move in aviation infrastructure development that supports both national and regional ambitions. He highlighted the importance of introducing breakthrough technologies and building local capabilities that are poised to define Qatar's aerospace future. "This facility reflects our commitment to excellence, innovation, and empowering Qatari talent," he stated.

The venture will also stand as a regional hub for operators across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, offering quick and efficient access to digital painting services. Future developments include plans for automatic robotic painting, with environmentally conscious practices like energy-efficient booths and waste management controls.

Eng. Mohammed Bader AlSadah, Barzan Holdings Group CEO, emphasised the agreement's role in boosting Qatar’s defence and aerospace capabilities, stating, "The development of this unique aircraft painting facility, in collaboration with Qatar Airways and Satys, will establish Qatar as a regional centre of excellence, meeting both military and civil aviation needs." He also mentioned that the initiative is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on growing local industry, building specialised skills, and promoting aviation service leadership.

Satys Aerospace CEO Christophe Cador expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to delivering excellence in quality, innovation, and turnaround time.
