The flight attendant strike at Air Canada has ended after a preliminary deal was reached.
The union representing the flight attendants at Air Canada announced yesterday that a strike, which had resulted in the cancellation of hundreds of flights since last Saturday, has come to an end following the achievement of a preliminary agreement with the airline.
The union urged its members to "fully cooperate with the resumption of operations," as reported by Bloomberg News. In a post on their official website yesterday, the union declared, "The strike is over.
We have reached a preliminary agreement that we will present to you."
The strike had been initiated over issues related to wages and working conditions, such as compensation during boarding procedures, severely disrupting travel across Canada and affecting approximately 130,000 passengers daily.
Despite government orders to return to work, the union stood firm on its demands, emphasizing their reasonableness.
The agreement was forged after an intensive negotiation session lasting more than nine hours, concluding early yesterday morning.
