In honor of Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) birthday, the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) declared that Sunday, September 15, 12 Rabi al-Awwal 1446H, will be a paid public holiday for private sector workers.

Employees who work on Sundays are required by law to request a compensating day off in place of the holiday. On a recognized public holiday, an employer is legally permitted to summon an employee to work.

Nonetheless, in the event that an employee works on a public holiday, the employer must provide them with compensatory leave, pay for the entire day, and an additional 50% of their base pay.

Second, if the employee must work on holidays due to job-related conditions, they will get payment for each day they work, either as a substitute rest day or as their regular compensation plus a bonus equal to at least 50% of their base pay for that day.

In a circular, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources declared a public sector holiday in honor of the event.

The third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabi' Al-Awwal 1444, is recognized as the Prophet's birthday in the majority of Islamic nations, including those in the Gulf.

Upcoming holidays in the Emirates

Residents of the UAE will get a long December holiday following this one, as it is National Day. Monday and Tuesday are the dates of December 2 and 3, respectively. That makes for a four-day holiday when paired with the Saturday-Sunday weekend.
