UAE Sets July 1 Deadline for Firms to Hire Emiratis, Threatens Fines

The UAE has issued a deadline for companies to employ Emiratis by the start of July or face financial penalties.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has urged private sector companies with 50 or more employees to swiftly meet their Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2025 by the month's end.
This urgency is to prevent financial contributions that will be levied in July on firms that do not meet these targets.
UAE Emiratisation Goals
The objectives include achieving a 1 percent increase in Emirati employees in skilled positions, relative to the total skilled workforce at the company, while maintaining existing Emiratisation rates.
The MoHRE has encouraged UAE citizens to report violations and practices inconsistent with the Emiratisation policies via the call centre at 600590000 or through the Ministry’s smart app and official website.
The Ministry expressed its confidence in the private sector and job-seeking nationals’ awareness of the strategic and national advantages, emphasizing the positive impact of Emiratisation on enhancing the country's workforce competitiveness and boosting economic growth.
The Ministry also highlighted its support for compliant companies through benefits provided by the Nafis program, including additional advantages for companies excelling in Emiratisation by granting them membership in the Tawteen Partners Club. This membership offers financial discounts of up to 80 percent on the Ministry's service fees and priority in the government procurement system, thereby enhancing their business growth opportunities.
MoHRE noted the significant support from the Nafis platform, which aids companies in fulfilling their obligations and boasts a substantial pool of skilled Emirati talent.
The Ministry lauded the private sector's engagement with Emiratisation policies and their commitment to meeting targets, resulting in unprecedented achievements for the national agenda.
As of the end of May, over 141,000 Emiratis were employed across 28,000 private sector firms in the UAE.
