UAE Renews Residency For some residents with Short Passport Validity

As a gesture of solidarity amid their nation's turmoil, the UAE permits Sudanese citizens to extend their residency despite the short validity of their passports, exempting them from fines till the end of the year.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security in the United Arab Emirates has been permitting Sudanese nationals to obtain identity cards and renew residency permits, even if their passports are only valid for six months, according to recent reports from print shops. Since the decision to exempt Sudanese nationals from residence permit and entry permit charges was put into force on May 19, this adjustment has been in place.
The goal of this action is to normalize their status inside the nation.
This facilitation follows the wise leadership's recommendations, demonstrating the UAE's unwavering humanitarian stance to improving social and humanitarian stability for its citizens. It also shows the leadership's goal to promote humanitarian and peaceful ideals and to safeguard values of generosity and compassion.
The Authority has made the decision to exempt Sudanese nationals from paying fines associated with entry and residency permits. This action demonstrates the UAE's resolve to lessen the effects of the unique situation that their nation is currently confronting.
The decision, which is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization, emphasizes the UAE's ongoing policy of aiding its neighbors and offering humanitarian support to impacted communities, particularly in times of crisis.
The Authority states that until the end of this year, this decision will remain in effect. Through the approved digital channels, those who have unpaid fines can update their status and submit an application for renewal. They will not be subject to fines because the procedures would be carried out smoothly and flexibly.
