UAE exempts this residents from 6-month passport validity

The United Arab Emirates announced an exemption for certain nationalities of residents who violate residency requirements, exempting them from passport validity less than six months.

In a related context, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the United Arab Emirates clarified that Sudanese residents can now easily issue new work visas, renew their residency, and even issue ID cards, even if their passports are valid for less than six months.

This action is an extraordinary measure meant to enable the procedures for changing their status in recognition of the exceptional circumstances their nation is facing, explained the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICA) of the United Arab Emirates. This action conforms to the authority granted by the Foreigners' Entry and Residence Law.

The ruling went into effect on May 19 and will stay in force till the end of the year. Even if their passport validity is shorter than six months, Sudanese citizens who have outstanding penalties can correct their situation and apply for new and renewal passports via the Authority's established digital channels. The Authority clarified that the processes would be flexible and simplified, free from any fines.

The Authority verified that this action conforms with the guidelines of the wise leadership to enable the processes for issuing residency and identity cards for Sudanese citizens who have been unable to renew their passports because of the unique situation their nation is facing. This phase is in progress in tandem with the strategic partner of the Authority, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. 

Sudanese nationals would be free from fines and ease of entrance requirements according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICA). This phase shows the nation's will to minimize the effects of the unique situation the Republic of Sudan finds itself in. 

The Authority confirmed that this choice reflects UAE's consistent policy of helping its brothers and giving humanitarian aid to impacted populations, particularly during crises. It also supports programs confirming the nation's role as a producer of human solidarity and tolerance. 

The Authority confirmed that this decision supports national initiatives aiming at improving social and humanitarian stability for citizens of the nation. It also reflects the UAE's goal to advance the ideals of humanity and peace and captures the vision of the wise leadership to instill the qualities of pity and charity.
