UAE Distributes 1 Million Tree Seedlings to Boost Green Spaces
Officially starting the "Distributing One Million Local Tree Seedlings" initiative, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) aims to assist sustainable development in the UAE by means of green areas. Working with Al Qaydi Nurseries and Farms, around 20,000 seedlings were delivered on Friday, a major first towards the objectives of the initiative.
Part of the bigger "Plant the Emirates" national movement, this one seeks to improve local agriculture, boost environmental sustainability, and so ensure food security for the nation, The initiative captures UAE's larger dedication to environmental well-being and community-driven projects.
Along with farmers, environmentalists, and industry players, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dhahak oversaw the event. Dr. Al Dhahak underlined at the event the value of native plants in the UAE's difficult environment marked by high temperatures and limited water supplies. Referring to Salem Al-Qaydi, proprietor of an organic farm and nursery in the Kadra area of Ras Al Khaimah, she underlined his efforts in growing native species and promoting agricultural sustainability.
"Today, we saw how this nursery has helped to increase green areas inside the UAE and even outside," she remarked, appreciating Al-Qaydi's efforts as a great inspiration for other nurseries and farmers, She pointed out that native plants are a sustainable farming method that help nearby towns as well as the surroundings.
One million native tree seedlings are supposed to be distributed by the project to different establishments including private farms, government agencies, and educational facilities. These saplings are chosen especially for their adaptability to UAE environment and their capacity to help to green the country's surroundings.
Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in October, the project is defined by Dr. Al Dhahak as a continuation of the "Plant the UAE" campaign. She underlined that this community-driven project is a group effort aiming at building a cleaner UAE future.
"This project brings together people driven about the environmental future of the United Arab Emirates . Driving sustainable development depends much on partners like Salem Al-Qaydi; together, we can have a long-lasting effect for next generations.
The campaign also emphasizes the growing part local farmers and agricultural consultants play in increasing the UAE's green cover. These are especially important in the development of native species, which complement national environmental and sustainability goals.
Incorporating community involvement and alliances with committed people like Al-Qaydi helps the program provide a sensible way to handle climate issues and promote sustainable development.
More than just an environmental endeavor, the "One Million Local Tree Seedlings" project reflects UAE sustainability ambition, The initiative not only helps to preserve the environment but also motivates citizens and stakeholders to foster a better future by including native plants into the agricultural and urban settings.
The UAE is still dedicated to reaching its sustainability targets as the program advances, therefore guaranteeing that projects such as these leave a legacy for the country and its people.
