In a testament to the global strength of the UAE passport, several countries have recently updated their entry requirements for UAE citizens, introducing a host of new benefits — from longer stay durations to streamlined e-travel permit processes with faster approval times.

The UAE passport has maintained its top ranking in 2024 as the world’s most powerful passport, according to the Passport Index by global financial consultancy Arton Capital. The index ranks 198 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access visa-free or with visa-on-arrival.

As per the latest update, UAE passport holders can now travel to 179 countries without a prior visa — including 132 visa-free destinations and 47 where a visa is granted upon arrival. Only 19 countries still require pre-approved visas, meaning Emiratis can access over 90% of the world without major restrictions.

UAE embassies have announced entry policy updates in several countries, encouraging citizens to stay informed via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and smart app. Travelers are also urged to register with the Twajudi service, which enables UAE embassies to provide timely assistance during emergencies abroad.

With the summer break approaching, many UAE citizens are preparing to travel internationally. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains committed to ensuring their safety and smooth travel experience.

Among the key updates:

🔹 In Japan, the UAE Embassy in Tokyo announced that as of July 1, the stay period for Emirati travelers has been extended from 30 to 90 days for holders of biometric passports (IC chip embedded).

🔹 In Thailand, the UAE Embassy in Bangkok confirmed the switch to a new digital arrival card system (TDAC) starting May 1, replacing the paper-based TM6 form. Travelers must register online at tdac.immigration.go.that least 3 days before departure. The stay period includes 60 days for tourism (with optional extension), and 90 days for medical or educational purposes.

🔹 The UK has also introduced its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system as of February 1, 2024. UAE nationals can now apply for a two-year ETA for just £10, with a processing time of up to 3 business days. The ETA allows unlimited entries for visits up to six months per stay for tourism, education, or medical treatment.

For longer medical stays beyond six months in the UK, UAE travelers can contact the UAE Embassy in London for further assistance.
