UAE announces granting golden visa to new category of residents starting next week

Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, teachers at Dubai schools and universities can now apply for the Golden Visa, according to an announcement by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) on October 5. This long-term visa is granted to teachers who have made outstanding contributions to the private education sector in the emirate.
This new initiative from the UAE is an implementation of the decisions of Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to grant distinguished teachers in the UAE special long-term visas.
The Golden Visa is a renewable 10-year residency that allows qualified teachers to live and work in Dubai for an extended period. This also includes the ability to sponsor family members. To apply, teachers must meet specific eligibility criteria set by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
The application for the Golden Visa is set to open on October 15, 2024 for teachers who meet the eligibility criteria. According to the KHDA, schools and universities will be able to nominate qualified teachers from mid-October to mid-December each year.
Teachers working in early childhood centers, schools, and higher education institutions may qualify based on their academic achievements, contributions to innovation in education, and efforts to raise educational standards in their institutions. Positive impacts on the community and contributions to student academic progress are also key factors. The following groups are eligible to apply:
- Principals and leaders of private schools in Dubai.
- Private early childhood centre directors.
- Academic heads of higher education institutions licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
Teachers from private schools and early childhood centres in Dubai. - Full-time faculty members of higher education institutions licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
