The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reported on Friday two UAE nationals sadly lost their lives and three others suffered injuries in an automobile accident while in Saudi Arabia. The collision once more emphasizes the risks of road travel and the need of increased road safety precautions for visitors.

Following the tragedy, MoFA began an air ambulance operation to evacuate the injured people in tandem with the National Guard's National Search and Rescue Center. First treated at King Khalid Hospital in Hail, Saudi Arabia , the three injured residents were transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital in the UAE for additional treatment. The dead were also returned to the UAE for burial so that their families can carry out funeral customs.

The UAE thanked Saudi authorities for their consistent assistance during this crisis. Working closely with the UAE Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi officials made sure the medical evacuation went successfully and the dead returned with dignity. MoFA recognized the vital part Saudi officials performed in supporting and enabling the mission to be carried out without any difficulties.

This sad event is not one in a vacuum. A father and his four children perished in August 2023 on the Makkah-Riyadh route in Saudi Arabia in separate incidents. After completing Umrah, the family was heading back to Abu Dhabi when their automobile ran afoul of another. Including the father, Malik Akram Khurma, and his children Akram, Maya, Dana, and Dima, the dead were Jordanian nationals of Palestinian heritage, Though she needed treatment, the mother survived the crash. The death of a whole family in this catastrophe highlighted the terrible power of traffic accidents.

Two cars were involved in another major collision on Saudi Arabia's Al Batha-Haradh road in July 2023, Five deaths and eight injuries came of course from the crash, One of the vehicles—registered in the UAE—carried a family of twelve; the other, registered in Saudi Arabia, contained seven passengers. The catastrophe was worsened when one of the cars caught fire due to the degree of the collision. This event underlined the need of following traffic safety rules and the dangers related with packed cars.

Particularly for expatriates and families traveling great distances, these recurring events have heightened worries regarding road safety, On intercity routes, driving tiredness, high speeds, and poor traffic regulation adherence have been found as contributory causes to several mishaps, Such events have spurred demands for more awareness of road safety issues and tougher implementation of policies.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been aggressive in attending to these issues. Both nations have started campaigns aiming at encouraging better driving habits and imposing speed restrictions, Furthermore, authorities are pushing the deployment of cutting-edge safety technologies in cars in order to lower the death risk from collisions, Public awareness campaigns also highlight the need of consistent car maintenance, particularly for those setting off long-distance road excursions.

According to a new UAE poll, road safety worries citizens more and more, Many of the respondents mentioned as a serious problem the frequency of accidents among expats visiting other countries, These issues have prompted recommendations for governments working together to improve cross-border road safety norms and procedures.
