Saudi Customs Seize 2,126 Smuggling Cases in Two Weeks

Riyadh — The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia has successfully intercepted 2,126 smuggling attempts at various land, sea, and air customs ports over the past two weeks.
The items seized were diverse, comprising 234 different types of narcotics, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, and Captagon pills. In addition to this, customs officials managed to stop 311 prohibited substances from entering the country. There were also attempts to smuggle 3,316 tobacco products and derivatives, 132 varieties of cash, and eight different types of weapons along with related supplies.
The authority highlighted its ongoing efforts, undertaken in collaboration with key partner agencies, to maintain stringent control over Saudi Arabia 's import and export channels in a bid to safeguard the security and wellbeing of its society.
In a call to action, the authority urged all members of the Saudi society to join in the fight against smuggling, emphasizing the importance of their role in protecting both society and the national economy. Reports on smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law provisions are received confidentially, and those providing accurate information may be eligible for a financial reward.
