Saudi Arabia Detains Over 13,500 Illegal Residents in One Week

Saudi Arabia detained 13,532 illegal residents in a week-long sweep across the Kingdom. The effort, involving security forces and multiple agencies, resulted in numerous deportations and legal actions against violators of residency, border, and labor regulations.

Saudi Arabia 's security forces, in coordination with relevant government agencies, detained a total of 13,532 illegal residents in a single week. The operations, conducted between June 19 and June 25, were announced by the Ministry of Interior on Saturday.

The detainees include 7,903 violators of the Residency Law, 3,744 violators of the Border Security Law, and 1,885 violators of the Labor Law.

According to the Ministry, 9,479 individuals were deported, while 6,225 violators were processed for travel document issuance by their diplomatic missions, and 2,072 completed their travel arrangements.

Authorities apprehended 1,892 individuals attempting to cross into the Kingdom illegally; 31 percent of these were Yemeni nationals, 67 percent were Ethiopian nationals, and the remaining 2 percent were of other nationalities. Additionally, 17 individuals suspected of facilitating transportation, shelter, and employment for these violators were also taken into custody.

Currently, legal proceedings are underway for 11,908 illegal residents, comprised of 10,783 men and 1,125 women, as part of the legal measures against them.

The Ministry of Interior has emphasized that anyone aiding in illegal entry, transport, shelter, or other assistance could face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SR1 million. Assets such as vehicles and homes used in these activities would be confiscated.

The Ministry has called on the public to report any violations by dialing 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 and 996 in other regions of the Kingdom.
