RTA Unveils Major Expansion of Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station

Dubai's RTA, in partnership with Emaar Properties, announces a significant expansion of the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station to increase capacity and accommodate growing passenger demand.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has officially revealed plans to significantly expand the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station, in collaboration with Emaar Properties.
The expansion project aims to boost the station's capacity by 65%, increasing its area from 6,700 to 8,500 square meters. This enhancement is driven by the need to accommodate the growing number of passengers, especially during peak times such as New Year’s Eve, public holidays, and various national and religious events.
In its statement, the RTA mentioned that the project will include improvements to station entrances and pedestrian bridges, aiming to provide more convenient access for metro users.
The station's development will involve the expansion of concourse and platform areas, alongside the installation of additional escalators and elevators. The design changes will also involve separating entry and exit gates to ensure smoother passenger flow. Additionally, there will be an increase in the number of fare gates to enhance service efficiency.
The plan includes the expansion of commercial spaces to generate additional revenue. The project also emphasizes integration with public transportation and other mobility modes to enhance overall connectivity.
Landscaping is another aspect of the development, as the RTA and Emaar Properties work together to complete the station’s expansion.
The Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station is vital, situated in one of Dubai’s busiest tourist and commercial zones, connecting passengers to the iconic Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall.
As of now, neither the RTA nor Emaar Properties have provided a timeline or completion date for the expansion project.
Further details will follow as the story develops.
