President Sheikh Mohamed Enacts Decree to Establish UAE Aid Agency
President Sheikh Mohamed has issued Federal Decree No. 27 of 2024 to officially establish the UAE Aid Agency, a new entity that will be affiliated with the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.
Operating as an independent body with legal capacity, the agency will be able to carry out its humanitarian responsibilities and operate free will. This rule is a major step towards improving the UAE's capabilities to support worldwide humanitarian projects and offer foreign help.
Managing and supervising foreign aid projects will fall to the UAE Aid Agency, which will also help to match them with more general national policy on international humanitarian matters. With special focus on disaster relief, post-conflict stabilization, early recovery initiatives, capacity building, and long-term development projects, its core responsibilities will be planning, executing, and monitoring official government assistance operations in a number of areas, These projects will not only solve immediate humanitarian needs but also encourage sustainable development in impacted areas all throughout the world.
Underlining the importance of this new agency on the occasion of its founding was Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. He underlined that the founding father of the United Arab Emirates , late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahaney, started a legacy of humanitarian activity that is carried on by the UAE Aid Agency. Additionally supporting the establishment of the UAE Aid Agency was Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He underlined that the creation of the agency confirms UAE's position as a major worldwide participant in humanitarian activities. Sheikh Abdullah underlined once more that the UAE's objective is not only to offer basic aid but also to enhance living circumstances and promote resilience in areas touched by crises all around. Sheikh Theyab described the agency's larger goal in enhancing the influence of UAE foreign aid projects, Through bettering humanitarian relief efforts and developmental projects, the agency will guarantee that UAE's support reaches the most disadvantaged groups and promotes long-term development.
