‏As part of its ongoing efforts to combat cyber fraud, Dubai Police — through its Anti-Fraud Center under the General Department of Criminal Investigation — has successfully arrested a gang specializing in electronic scams using deceptive phishing links.

According to Dubai Police, the gang’s criminal strategy involved sending fraudulent messages and fake links to victims, impersonating well-known brands such as restaurants, delivery services, and retail promotions. Once victims clicked the link and submitted their banking information, the criminals would exploit the data to withdraw funds illegally.

The police revealed that the messages were crafted to appear genuine, often using familiar names and logos to gain the victim’s trust. However, through coordinated cyber investigations and advanced pattern analysis, the Anti-Fraud Center was able to trace the digital activity, identify the suspects, and ultimately arrest the individuals involved.

Authorities also confiscated the electronic tools and devices used to carry out the fraud operations.

Dubai Police issued a public warning urging residents not to open links from unknown or unverified sources, even if they appear to be from trusted entities. Community members are encouraged to report suspicious links or messages immediately via the nearest police station, the official eCrime platform, or the Dubai Police mobile app.

This operation underscores Dubai Police’s commitment to protecting the public from evolving cyber threats and ensuring the digital safety of all residents.
