UAE National Day Celebrated with Safety

Mothers of infants born between December 1 and 5 across 24 Dubai hospitals received complimentary car seats as part of the project. The RTA is annually trying to celebrate the UAE National Day by improving community welfare. Based on projected birth count for the celebration period, the participating hospitals had enough car seats on hand.

Over 2,000 infant car seats have been supplied since the initiative started five years ago, according to RTA Traffic and Roads Agency CEO Hussain Al Banna. "This initiative aims to ensure every newborn in Dubai hospitals receives a child car seat, so reinforcing the relevance of road safety for families," he said at Eid Al Etihad celebrations.

The My Baby's Gift on Eid Al Etihad program's success points to a cooperation with UNICEF, Dubai Health Authority, and Dubai Police. These groups cooperate to guarantee that the message of the campaign reaches a broad audience and encourages the usage of child car seats as a necessary safety precaution.

Hussain Al Banna underlined the need of teamwork for improving public safety. Focusing on the safety of children, students, and other road users, RTA's activities are designed and updated routinely to suit the needs of all community groups.

Child Passenger Safety Equipment

Al Banna emphasized, employing appropriate child car seats has life-saving effects based on worldwide studies. By 54% for children and 71% for newborns, properly placed car seats can lower the risk of injuries and death in car accidents. Furthermore, child car seats reduce traffic-related injuries among 4 to 8 year olds by 45%.

Al Banna encouraged parents to rigorously respect traffic laws in order to guarantee optimal safety. He underlined two important rules implemented in Dubai:

Children less than 145 cm or under ten years old are not permitted to seat in the front row. Breaking this guideline fines Dh 400.
Moving children under four years old without a suitable kid safety seat also results in a Dh400 fine.

Advancement of Extended Safety

The child safety initiatives of RTA go beyond the festivities on National Day. These initiatives complement the larger initiatives of the authority to improve traffic safety throughout the emirate.
