At COP29, the UAE unveiled groundbreaking initiatives demonstrating its leadership in climate innovation and sustainable development, with a highlight on the world’s first ChatGPT-based tool designed for the agricultural community.

Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Head of the International Affairs Office in the UAE Presidential Court, declared the development of “CHAG” (Chat + Ag), a tool leveraging over 50 years of research data. CHAG is tailored to empower farmers, particularly in challenging climatic conditions, by offering actionable insights on crop planting and harvesting using advanced AI capabilities.

The announcement happened inside a session called "In Partnering to Create AI-based Public Goods for One Billion+ Smallholders." Almheiri underlined that CHAG would transform farming methods, thereby enabling smallholder farmers all around to make informed decisions based on data. The instrument underlines UAE's dedication to combine technology with sustainability and shows its development in artificial intelligence.

The event also underlined the UAE's cooperation with the Gates Foundation under the AIM for Scale project, which aims to equip farmers with tools to fit changing climatic conditions. Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organisation Celeste Saulo noted how artificial intelligence is being used to offer accurate, useful information instead of broad projections, therefore transforming agricultural communities.

The UAE's more general emphasis on decarbonization and sustainable innovation was clear all through the event. Opening the day with her discussion of UAE leadership in carbon market growth, Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), Fanny Modin of Seagrass-E.ON pointed out the UAE's advancements in sustainable financing and said the ALTÉRRA fund is essential tool for green economic development.

In many of the seminars, technology and creativity were reoccurring subjects. Prize winners for the Zayed Sustainability Prize showed how technologically advanced solutions may forward environmental targets. SolShare CEO Sebastian Groh underlined the need of policy above technology in reaching scalability and the convergence of distributed and centralized energy solutions. Celebrated adventurer Bertrand Piccard underlined the revolutionary possibilities of hydrogen-powered aircraft.

According to WAM, Nadia Rouchdy from Emirates Nature-WWF underlined in debates on decarbonization the need of strong data and locally based UAE businesses in reducing emissions and involving suppliers in climate solutions. When considering COP28's legacy, Rouchdy pointed out how effectively it combined topics of health, environment, and climate change, thereby establishing a standard for next meetings.

Beyond agriculture, food resilience and energy systems were among the transforming possibilities of artificial intelligence, While another, run by TAQA and the Utilities for Net Zero Alliance, looked at worldwide developments in power grids for reaching Net Zero by 2025, a session on food systems innovation looked at how artificial intelligence increases agricultural output.

Sessions on greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring clearly UAE's commitment to openness and responsibility. The UAE National MRV-Transparency System highlighted improvements in climate reporting, therefore supporting the nation's leadership in sustainability indicators.

At the end of the day, a Changemaker Majlis sponsored by Masdar and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI explored how revolutionary artificial intelligence is in the energy transformation. Talks focused on how artificial intelligence may inspire creativity, maximize energy use, and meet environmental goals.

By means of programs such as CHAG and its multifarious emphasis on artificial intelligence, cooperation, and sustainable technology, the UAE is not only tackling urgent worldwide issues but also setting standards for combining innovation with climate change action, The COP 29 statements capture the forward-looking attitude of the country and its dedication to create a strong, sustainable future for everybody.
