Abu Dhabi Airports has unveiled a groundbreaking US Customs and Border Protection (US CBP) preclearance facility at Zayed International Airport, a major milestone in enhancing the travel experience for passengers bound for the United States, This state-of-the-art facility, unique in the Middle East and Asia, underscores Abu Dhabi’s prominence as a global travel and aviation hub.
Before departure, the preclearance facility lets Etihad Airways passengers finish all US customs and immigration processes in Abu Dhabi, These passengers, who arrive in the US, are handled as domestic visitors, greatly shortening waiting times and streamlining of subsequent connections. Etihad Airways runs 35 weekly flights to key US locations including Boston, Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC right now.
Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports Elena Sorlini underlined the value of this facility, saying that "This preclearance facility is another critical step towards our objective of establishing Abu Dhabi as a prominent global aviation hub. Travelers save long lines upon arrival by finishing US customs and immigration processes before departure, therefore enabling quick access to their ultimate destinations. Set to open in December 2024, the facility will also have a luxury lounge just for Business and First-class travelers.
