Mobile internet services will remain suspended throughout the Indian state of Jharkhand for over five hours each on Saturday and Sunday, consecutively, in connection with the Combined Competitive Examination of Jharkhand General Graduate Level.

This step has been ordered by the state government as a precautionary measure aimed at avoiding every form of malpractice in the examination, according to an official statement.

The services will remain suspended from 8 AM to 1:30 PM on September 21 and 22. "The action has been taken to ensure the free, fair, and transparent manner of the examinations," authorities explained.

It also said that in the previous exams, some candidates were found using mobile applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, X, Telegram, and YouTube for malpractices, which require access to the internet or a Wi-Fi network. "The state government of Jharkhand strives towards removing any lacunae in the examination process, which can raise eyebrows in the public mind about the integrity of the recruitment process," read the statement. The government clarified that suspension of mobile internet services was ordered after seriously considering the situation. Authorities claimed it was a necessary decision to be taken to ensure the examination is conducted without any disturbance and to avoid any potential disruption. In a bid to shut all avenues of malpractice, the government has ordered the disabling of mobile internet, mobile data, and mobile Wi-Fi connectivity during examination hours.
