The Ministry of Human Resources emphasizes a 48-hour reporting rule for workplace injuries, ensuring employers act swiftly to ensure worker safety.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has emphasized the critical need for employers to promptly take action when a workplace injury occurs or if an employee develops a work-related illness. This includes notifying the appropriate medical authorities and the local police, along with informing the ministry through designated channels. Employers must do this within a maximum timeframe of 48 hours from the moment they, or their legal representatives, become aware of the injury or the suspicion of a work-related illness.
The ministry clarified via its platform on X that employers are fully responsible for covering all medical costs for the injured employee until they have completely recovered or if a permanent disability is confirmed, either partially or fully. Compensation for workplace injuries is based on the employee's last basic salary and is disbursed within ten working days from the issuance of the medical report that determines the level of disability.
Furthermore, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights of employees and their beneficiaries in instances of death resulting from workplace injuries or illnesses, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
These measures aim to ensure swift medical intervention and the formal documentation of incidents, ultimately contributing to enhanced protection of workers’ rights and fostering a safe and stable work environment. The ministry urged employers to implement workplace safety and prevention systems and to adhere to procedures that minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. This includes regular training for employees on how to manage potential hazards and respond appropriately in emergencies.
Additionally, workers were encouraged to report any violations or lapses in safety standards through the available official channels. The ministry highlighted that fostering transparency and cooperation among stakeholders plays a vital role in creating a work environment founded on justice and mutual respect, strengthening the UAE’s position as an attractive destination for skilled labor within a safe and exemplary work atmosphere.
