Egyptian footballer Omar Marmoush suffers a knee ligament injury and may miss Manchester Derby.
Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian national football team's forward, has sustained an injury to the ligaments in his right knee. This unfortunate incident might prevent him from participating in the much-anticipated Manchester Derby in the English Premier League this Sunday, according to an announcement from the Egyptian Football Association.
Marmoush was forced to leave the field just four minutes into Egypt's match against Burkina Faso. The encounter, part of the eighth round of African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, ended in a goalless draw in Ouagadougou after Marmoush collided with an opposing player.
Following the game, a statement was released by the Egyptian Football Association: "Dr. Mohamed Abou El-Ela, Egypt's national team physician, confirmed that Omar Marmoush has suffered a contusion in his knee ligaments. He will undergo an MRI scan upon his return to Cairo."
The 26-year-old Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January for £59 million (approximately $80 million). Under manager Pep Guardiola, he has been a regular starter for City during their recent Premier League fixtures.
