Qatar’s Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that the country was targeted by three cruise missiles launched from Iran amid rising regional tensions and ongoing military escalation.
The ministry confirmed that Qatari armed forces successfully intercepted two of the three missiles, demonstrating high readiness and defensive capability, while the third missile struck an oil tanker within Qatar’s economic waters.
According to the official statement, the affected tanker was chartered by QatarEnergy, and authorities responded immediately in coordination with relevant entities to contain the situation.
The ministry added that a full evacuation of the oil tanker was carried out, with all 21 crew members safely evacuated without any casualties, reflecting effective emergency response measures.
This development comes amid fast-moving regional events, as authorities continue close monitoring and coordination to ensure maritime security and protect vital infrastructure.
