In a shocking and tragic incident, Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested a suspect involved in a deadly shooting that resulted in the death of a mother and her two daughters. The incident occurred after a traffic-related altercation in a narrow passageway within the emirate.

According to Maher Salem Wafai, the son of the deceased mother and brother of the victims, the tragedy unfolded when his 66-year-old mother and four sisters were in their vehicle and encountered a dispute with another driver over parking. The disagreement escalated into violence, culminating in the suspect opening fire on the family.

Wafai expressed his deep sorrow, stating: “We’ve lived in the UAE for over 20 years and have always experienced safety and peace. Incidents like this are extremely rare and do not reflect the values of this nation, which is known for its justice and protection of rights.” He added that the family places full trust in the fairness and transparency of the UAE judicial system, confident that justice will be served.

He also noted that the act was an isolated incident and does not represent the community. Despite the devastating loss, the family holds firm faith in the country’s strong legal framework.

Among the victims were two daughters aged 35 and 38 who lost their lives. A third sister, aged 47, was injured but managed to hand her phone to her 11-year-old son and instructed him to call the police. The fourth sister, aged 30, escaped uninjured.

Police confirmed in a statement that they received the emergency call and responded within five minutes. Preliminary investigations revealed the dispute was over right of way and escalated into a deadly shooting. The firearm used was seized, and the suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Authorities urged the public to remain calm in conflicts and warned that the law will be firmly enforced against anyone who threatens the safety and security of society.
