Neuralink, the innovative brain-chip startup established by Elon Musk, has officially launched its first clinical trial in the Middle East, named UAE-PRIME, at the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH).
This development marks Abu Dhabi as the inaugural international location for Neuralink’s clinical trial, extending the company’s reach beyond North America.
Neuralink’s Brain-Chip Trial in Abu Dhabi
Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, expressed that Neuralink’s UAE-PRIME clinical trial represents a significant turning point for the future of healthcare. He stated, “In collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, we are proud to facilitate the safe and responsible advancement of brain-computer interface technology, offering renewed hope to individuals living with severe neurological conditions.”
Al Mansoori emphasized that this partnership exemplifies Abu Dhabi’s commitment to fostering innovation in health and life sciences, propelling forward transformative technologies that are rigorously tested, ethically governed, and widely accessible.
According to a social media post by Neuralink, they are excited to begin this pioneering clinical trial in the Middle East at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.
The UAE-PRIME trial aims to investigate how individuals with motor and speech impairments can leverage their thoughts to control devices and communicate more effectively.
Neuralink underscored that this initiative is a significant step toward making their groundbreaking technology available globally to enhance the lives of millions suffering from debilitating neurological disorders.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi also expressed pride in being the first non-North American hospital to collaborate with Neuralink on the UAE-PRIME trial. In an Instagram update, they highlighted, “This milestone reflects our leadership in medical innovation and our commitment to transforming lives.”
