Dubai Sports Channels, under the Dubai Media Corporation, announced the signing of a formal agreement with the Professional League of Dutch Football. As a result, they will obtain exclusive broadcasting rights for the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, for a duration of three years.
This initiative is part of Dubai Media's commitment to stay updated and engaged with global sports events, aligning with their vision of being closer to fans.
The agreement was signed by Abdul Rahman Amin, Director General of Dubai Sports Channels, and Jan de Jong, Chief Executive Officer of the Dutch Professional League, in the presence of Salem Balyouha, Executive Director of Content Sector at Dubai Media, Hassan Habib, Manager of Dubai Sports Channel, and prominent sports analysts from the channel.
The memorandum stipulates that Dubai Sports Channels will begin broadcasting matches of the Eredivisie starting this August. The channels will also set up weekly analytical studios and comprehensive coverage of the tournament, including exclusive interviews with key coaches and players. This will allow Arab viewers to follow the performances of renowned clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord, and PSV Eindhoven, among others.
With the addition of the Dutch Premier League to its portfolio of major leagues and tournaments – which already includes the Swedish league, Major League Soccer for both men and women, and the Turkish league – Dubai Sports Channels continue to enhance their aim of delivering diverse global sports content that meets the expectations of their audience across the region.
Salem Balyouha emphasized Dubai Media Corporation's commitment to covering major global events and matches through its sports channels, which helps highlight the ongoing developments in international sports. He stated that this agreement plays a significant role in promoting sports content in the media and delivering it to the public in line with the highest international standards. "The memorandum with the Dutch Professional League adds a qualitative touch that strengthens the status of Dubai Sports Channels as a preferred choice among sports fans in the region. By broadcasting the Eredivisie, we aim to provide rich viewing experiences and introduce the Arab audience to prestigious competitions that have contributed to many renowned names in football."
Abdul Rahman Amin praised the agreement, referring to it as "a new step" in the journey of Dubai Sports Channels, which strives to offer comprehensive sports content that resonates with viewers in the Arab region. He noted, "The Dutch Premier League is one of the most important and well-known leagues in global football, due to the collection of clubs competing for the title every season and its role in developing young talent, making it an ideal platform for emerging players worldwide."
He pointed out that acquiring exclusive broadcasting rights for the league demonstrates the capabilities of Dubai Sports Channels in reaching a wide audience of football enthusiasts around the globe.
