Dubai unveils updated taxi fares focusing on app-based bookings.

Dubai has unveiled its revised taxi fare structure, outlining minimum fares, peak times, and weekend charges in a recent announcement shared on social media. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) specified that these changes will only affect rides booked through ride-hailing apps and services, while traditional street-hailed taxis will remain unaffected.

Understanding the Updated Taxi Fares

Monday to Thursday

During peak hours from 8:00 AM to 9:59 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:59 PM, passengers will incur a booking fee of AED 7.5 ($2) along with a fixed flagfall fee of AED 5 ($1.36).

For off-peak periods between 6:00 AM and 7:59 AM as well as from 10:00 AM to 3:59 PM, the booking fee will be reduced to AED 4 ($1.1), maintaining the same AED 5 flagfall charge.

Night-time journeys from 10:00 PM to 7:59 AM will have a slightly elevated booking fee of AED 4.5 ($1.2), with the flagfall rising marginally to AED 5.5 ($1.50).

Friday

The fare system for Fridays follows similar principles, with peak hours from both morning until late evening-8:00 AM to 9:59 AM and later at an extended slot till 9:59 PM-requiring an AED 7.5 booking fee paired with an AED 5 flagfall.

The off-peak timeframe is identical to weekdays during early morning or afternoon slots (6:00 AM - 7:59 AM;10:00 AM -3:59 PM), attracting a lower booking cost of AED4 while sustaining the standard flagfall.

However,on Friday nights ranging midnight through early dawn (12AM–05 :59AM),the rate returns back up slightly higher figures across board i.e.,an additional .50 fills put upon either part(booking/flag fall)notably standing thus;AEDs four-and-a-half alongside corresponding five point-five respectively.

 

Saturdays & Sundays:
