The Dubai Police recently organized an enlightening event aimed at enhancing awareness of cybercrimes within the Filipino community participating in the "Community Basketball Tournament."
This initiative, coordinated by the Spirit of Positivity Council and the Cultural Diversity Section of the General Department of Community Happiness, sought to educate attendees on various forms of digital crimes such as electronic blackmail, online fraud, and other financial cyber offenses.
Additionally, it emphasized understanding traffic safety regulations.
Held at the Dubai Club for People with Determination alongside tournament activities, this awareness campaign reached nearly 600 members of the Filipino community.
It informed them about crucial contact protocols with Dubai Police: dialing 999 in emergencies and 901 for non-emergencies.
Furthermore, participants were acquainted with diverse services offered by Dubai Police that aim to foster security and happiness among community members.
Fatima Buhajeer, Head of the Spirit of Positivity Initiative Council and Cultural Diversity Section Chief, stated that this educational endeavor aligns with Dubai Police's commitment to spreading awareness across all communities in the emirate.
Particular focus is placed on youth education regarding interaction with police authorities to avoid falling victim to electronic fraud while bolstering their understanding of traffic laws applicable in the country.
Buhajeer emphasized that such initiatives are pivotal in achieving Dubai Police’s objectives to enhance quality of life, promote social harmony, and instill values of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for others within society.
