Opening on Sunday by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), a new bridge in Dubai is meant to significantly reduce traffic times on Hessa Street.
The trip from Hessa Street to Al Khail Road used to take about 15 minutes, but the new two-lane bridge, 1,000 meters long, will now cut this time down to just 3 minutes. The bridge is supposed to considerably enhance traffic flow, therefore enabling faster access to Al Khail Road and other important parts of the city.
Hessa Street is always developing, and this latest addition marks another 54 percent of its intended improvements finished, The bridge is projected to improve the whole transportation system in Dubai since it guarantees seamless connectivity between several parts of the city, including Dubai International Airport and the central core, A key component of a larger effort to modernize the road system, the new bridge will help to improve traffic conditions in one of Dubai's busiest routes.
Comprising a whole project aiming at updating the road network and increasing traffic capacity, the Hessa Street development is It comprises improvements at four main intersections, which should be finished by the fourth quarter of 2025. These crossroads comprise those at Al Asayel Street, First Al Khail Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Al Khail Road. Once completely running, these improvements will serve to relieve traffic congestion and enable more seamless mobility over the whole region.
Valued at Dh689 million, the project will benefit numerous important residential and development zones like Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Sufouh 2, Al Barsha Residential Area. The development runs 4.5 km from its junction with Sheikh Zayed Road to its junction with Al Khail Road. The improvements are viewed as vital to satisfy the growing need for improved road infrastructure given the expected population increase of nearly 640,000 people in the areas the project covers by 2030.
The estimated doubled capacity of Hessa Street is one of the main effects of the project, Currently handling 8,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, the street's capacity will increase to 16,000 vehicles per hour after the improvements, Along with relieving traffic congestion, this rise will help the city's transportation system run more generally efficiently.
Four main crossroads undergoing renovation as part of the Hessa Street project are:
Hessa Street and Sheikh Zayed Road: A new two-lane directional ramp will be built at this junction across the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. This ramp would greatly enhance traffic flow by allowing motorists from Sheikh Zayed Road turn right onto Hessa Street, headed east toward Emirates Road.
Hessa Street and First Al Khail Road: Three to four lanes in each direction will be added to the current bridge at this location, Furthermore improving traffic circulation will be the surface-level signalized intersection.
The current bridge will be enlarged at this junction, extending it to four lanes in each direction, Hessa Street and Asayel Street Furthermore enhanced to increase traffic flow will be the surface-level signalized intersection.
The last junction to be built will be Hessa Street and Al Khail Road, with a two-lane straight ramp guaranteed to guarantee seamless traffic flow from Hessa Street onto Al Khail Road, north toward Sharjah.
When finished, these improvements will greatly improve traffic flow and ease congestion, therefore facilitating resident and commuter movement around Dubai. The initiative is essential for the larger ambitions of the city to upgrade its road system and assist the increasing population.
