Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a significant increase in passenger traffic during the winter holiday season, with an estimated 5.2 million travelers expected between December 13 and 31.
Dubai Customs has put a number of policies in place to effectively control this increase, including increasing its inspector staff and using cutting-edge technologies to expedite the customs process.
The estimated rise in passenger count is likely to produce an average of 274,000 daily visits. The weekend from December 20 to 22 is projected to be the busiest time when up to 880,000 people could pass DXB. Dubai Customs is intensifying its efforts to guarantee seamless operations at the airport during this busy period given the great volume of visitors.
Dubai Customs has added 77 more inspection equipment at DXB and greatly expanded the staff of inspection agents in response to the projected influx. These comprise 19 for hand baggage and 58 for big bags as well as other support items to help with inspection activities. This will help to control the growing workload and guarantee that customs processes stay effective even during the busiest travel hours.
Dubai Customs has also launched the smart Declare app, which lets visitors register their goods, personal items, presents, currencies, and cash ahead of their flights, hence enhancing efficiency. By helping to handle transactions before travelers reach customs, this app helps to cut clearing time. Using the app allows travelers to finish their declarations and cross the red channel in less than four minutes, therefore expediting the customs process.
