Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority mandates appointment bookings for vehicle inspections, effective June 2, 2025, to enhance service quality and reduce wait times.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced that as of June 2, 2025, booking appointments for vehicle inspections will be mandatory. This service can be accessed through the RTA's smart application or their official website. For those who choose not to book in advance, walk-in service will be available at 19 centers for an additional fee of 100 dirhams.
Appointment Booking at Eight Centers
The appointment booking service will be available at eight centers, where no walk-in services will be offered. These centers include: Wasel Al Arabi Center, Al Hamr, Shamil Al Aadhd, Al Muhaisnah, Al Mazhar, and Tasjeel Al Tawer and Al Mankhool.
The RTA expanded this service following a successful pilot phase that began last October at the Tasjeel centers in Al Qusais and Al Barsha. The initiative was designed to save time and effort, demonstrating its effectiveness during the trial period.
The aim of mandating this service is to enhance the quality of vehicle inspection, benefiting a significant number of residents and improving overall satisfaction among vehicle owners by reducing wait times at inspection centers.
Reduced Wait Times
The pilot phase results showed a significant decrease in the average waiting time for vehicle inspections at the Al Qusais and Al Barsha centers, with wait times dropping by approximately 46%. Moreover, the actual service load at these centers reduced by about 15% compared to the available capacity.
Qais Al-Farsi, Director of Vehicle Licensing at the RTA, commented: "The pilot phase results clearly demonstrated a noticeable improvement and positive shift in effectively reducing congestion during peak times, which previously posed significant challenges at inspection centers."
Al-Farsi further noted several anticipated benefits from implementing this initiative across the majority of inspection centers, including time and effort savings for clients and a projected 40% decrease in waiting times, especially in centers operating above 80% capacity.
Commitment to Service Accessibility
Al-Farsi continued, stating, "The RTA has made the appointment booking system mandatory for all vehicle owners, with the exception of vehicles owned by people of determination and seniors registered in Dubai. These groups are not required to book in advance for any of the vehicle inspection services in order to streamline their access to essential services."
Currently, there are a total of 27 centers offering pre-booking for vehicle inspection appointments via the RTA's smart application or website, except for the Tasjeel center in Hatta.
