The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has successfully completed a series of comprehensive traffic improvements on 34th Street in the Al Barsha South area.

This initiative responds to feedback from local residents and is part of the RTA's ongoing efforts to enhance the road network and ensure traffic safety on both main and internal roads. The project also aims to upgrade infrastructure in residential neighborhoods, aligning with Dubai's current and future developmental goals, while fulfilling the RTA's vision of being a leader in sustainable and easy mobility within the emirate.
The key improvements include the addition of four new entrances and exits on 34th Street, which facilitate vehicle movement and significantly reduce travel times for residents. The time required to enter or exit the area has been reduced from five minutes to less than one minute. Furthermore, continuous pedestrian walkways have been implemented along the street, along with the introduction of 158 new parking spaces to help manage vehicle parking and minimize random stopping along roadsides, thereby enhancing road safety in the area.
Additionally, a U-turn has been constructed at the intersection of 34th Street and Al Hadaeq Street to ease vehicle movement and reduce travel distances for residents, maximizing the benefits of the newly established entrances and exits. This improvement has successfully cut travel time down to one minute.
Efficient Transportation
In this context, Hussein Al Banna, Executive Director of Traffic and Roads at RTA, stated, "The recent quick solutions in Al Barsha South are part of the RTA's plans aimed at providing smoother and safer traffic flow across various streets in Dubai, particularly in residential areas. Through a range of traffic solutions, we are fulfilling the directives of our wise leadership to enhance the quality of life in Dubai by delivering infrastructure that enables more efficient and safe movement, thereby creating a comprehensive and sustainable urban environment."
He added, "These recent enhancements contribute to better traffic flow and reduce congestion at major intersections. In a keen effort to improve pedestrian safety, the RTA has established seven well-placed pedestrian crossings on internal roads to reduce unsafe intersections between pedestrians and vehicles, particularly in densely populated areas such as Al Barsha South."
Al Banna affirmed the RTA's commitment to continuously implement effective traffic solutions and necessary improvements on all major and internal roads, characterized by high traffic density. Furthermore, the RTA actively listens to community feedback and examines the feasibility of suggestions to achieve ongoing growth and the strategic objective of enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors in Dubai.
