Dubai Electricity clinches prestigious award for its sustainable initiatives.
In a recent accolade, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) clinched the "Sustainability Initiative of the Year" award at the Sustainability Awards 2025, organized by Business Intelligence Group in the United States. The authority was honored for its circular transformation initiative in the planning of Dubai's electricity distribution network, setting a global benchmark for sustainability, innovation, and efficiency in power distribution networks.
Upon receiving the award on behalf of DEWA's Energy and Water Planning sector team, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, remarked: "Winning the Sustainability Initiative Award 2025 reinforces international recognition of our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. This achievement aligns with our leadership’s vision to establish Dubai as a global capital for sustainability and green economy."
The initiative significantly contributed to supporting the circular economy. Its objective was to optimize network enhancement planning and achieve financial savings exceeding 13.9 million AED while ensuring network reliability and reducing electricity downtime to an average of just 0.94 minutes per customer annually.
