In November, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has claimed the title of the world's busiest airport, outpacing Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) in the United States. This achievement was highlighted by data from "OAG," a global aviation analytics platform.
The latest figures reveal that Dubai secured the top position globally concerning overall seat capacity on both international and domestic flights combined.
Throughout November, the airport is expected to handle 5.29 million seats, marking an increase of 5% compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, Atlanta slipped to second place with 5.12 million seats while maintaining a capacity similar to last year's levels.
The report further emphasized Dubai International’s continued leadership in international flights specifically, registering over 5.29 million scheduled departing seats this month, equating to roughly 10.7 million seats for round-trip flights-solidifying its status as the most bustling hub for international travelers worldwide.
London Heathrow (LHR) holds the second spot in terms of international flight capacity with 3.91 million seats, showing a modest growth of 2% compared to November 2022.
Despite this growth, Dubai maintains a significant lead with an additional 1.39 million seats.
Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) ranks third globally with 3.47 million seats but has seen a slight decrease of 1% from last year.
This accomplishment reflects not only the ongoing recovery of air travel in the UAE but also underscores Dubai’s strengthening position as a pivotal global aviation hub.
The surge is bolstered by expanding national carriers and the attraction of millions of visitors during the winter season.
