Four Pakistani men have been sentenced to two years in prison each and fined a total of Dh1 million after being found guilty of impersonating police officers, kidnapping, and robbing two Indian nationals. The incident occurred on March 29 this year, under the jurisdiction of Al Rafaa Police Station.
According to Khaleej Times news, After finding the victims were carrying a significant sum of money, the case exposed that the victims' driver-also a Pakistani national-conspired with three other individuals and a fugitive to carry out the murder. Court papers state that the driver told the gang important information on the whereabouts and movements of the victims.
Driving the victims to Dubai's Gold Souk early on March 29, the driver tipped off the gang following in a black Kia car. The offenders intercepted the victims close to Al Mankhool. Pretending to be police, two gang members drove the victims apart in different vehicles. The victims were then hauled to Al Nahda.
Once at the spot, the group grabbed two wallets, two cell phones, and Dh1 million in cash from the victims before releasing them. The victims of the heist reported the incidence right away to the authorities. This quick response set off an inquiry that turned up the accused people arrested.
Accused of plotting with the gang, a fifth Pakistani man also came under investigation in the matter. He claimed no involvement, nevertheless, during the inquiry and later prosecution.
