Careem Pay has broadened its international remittance offering, now allowing UAE residents to send money directly to bank accounts in Canada and Bangladesh.

With this addition, the digital payments arm of Careem now supports money transfers to over 35 countries, covering popular destinations such as India, Pakistan, the UK, Europe, and the Philippines.

The service boasts quick and secure transactions. According to Careem Pay, some transfers will process in as little as seven seconds in 2025. Members of Careem Plus benefit further with preferential transfer rates via the platform.

Specific transfer limits apply under the newly introduced corridors: Customers can remit up to Dhs150,000 per transaction-capped at Dhs450,000 monthly-to Canadian bank accounts. For Bangladesh, single transfers may reach up to Dhs90,000 with a monthly maximum of Dhs200,000. The service enables customers to send funds in Canadian dollars (CAD) for Canada and Bangladeshi taka (BDT) for Bangladesh.

To celebrate the launch, Careem Pay is rolling out a promotional offer: customers sending Dhs2,000 or more on their first transfer to Canada using the code CANADA can receive 1 percent cashback up to Dhs100.

Mohammad El Saadi, Vice President of Careem Pay, commented on the expansion: “We’re excited to extend our money transfer service to two important expat communities in the UAE. Following our recent growth into more than 35 countries, adding Canada and Bangladesh felt like a natural progression. Whether it’s supporting families back home or handling educational fees and property matters abroad, our goal is simple-to make cross-border transfers easier, faster and more affordable for both Canadian and Bangladeshi expats.”

The timing appears well chosen. Annual remittances from UAE's Canadian community are estimated at Dhs800 million. Meanwhile, Bangladesh remains among the UAE’s top five remittance destinations-totaling about $3.9 billion each year-with demand surging roughly 20 percent during holidays.

This latest step aligns with Careem Pay's broader vision: streamlining financial services through an integrated platform that offers everything from international transfers and peer-to-peer payments to bill settlements and digital wallet capabilities.

To start using these new remittance options, users need only update their Careem app and select ‘Pay’ from the home screen menu.
