Bad Lashes Beauty Emily McNamee is hoping to reignite her pop star career by voting for herself once more as a member of a female band founded by Manchester radio station.
The Durham native was a member of Bad Lashes, which advanced to the live final of The X Factor in 2008 before being dismissed by the public after singing their version of Oasis' classic Wonderwall.
Emily McNamee, a singer, tasted fame on The X Factor and is now seeking to repeat her success.
The group did a few shows before breaking up, but Emily confesses she's got the music bug.
Emily, 25, said: "I've been given the opportunity to be a part of Manchester's next major project, Key 103's hunt for a girl band.
"I've made it to the final shortlist of ten candidates, and voting is ongoing until Monday."I hope to have as much assistance as possible to help me realize my dream again."
Emily, who is originally from High Pittington, County Durham, relocated to Manchester in September and is currently working in the food sector while attempting to establish herself in the music industry.
She advanced to the final stages of Key 103 after beating off over 100 other contestants, impressing the judges, including former X Factor winner Shane Ward.
Emily performed a copy of Cher's 90s song Believe at her audition, and the judges saw her promise and gave her the thumbs up to move forward.
The three singers who receive the most votes from the top ten will be automatically picked to form a four-member female group, with the judges selecting the fourth member.
Emily explained: "I relocated to Manchester to pursue my ambition of singing. Having competed on the X Factor as part of Bad Lashes six years ago, I've never lost enthusiasm and was disappointed when things didn't work out for us.
"I still want to be a singer and perform often in different locations; it's what I enjoy. I cannot fathom my existence without singing."
If successful, the band will release an iTunes single, perform at Manchester's Phones 4u Arena, and perhaps land a record deal.
"I need as many voices as possible to help make that happen," Emily told me. "I've come a long way but I want to keep going and get another chance."
