Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has joined Olympique Marseille from Saudi Arabia's Al-Qadsiah on a free transfer after terminating his previous contract.
Olympique Marseille, a prominent team in the French Ligue 1, confirmed on Thursday the signing of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The former Arsenal and Chelsea forward joins the club on a free transfer.
Following a season spent in Saudi Arabia, the 36-year-old returns to Marseille. This marks his second stint with the club, having previously joined in another free transfer deal back in 2023.
The Gabonese international, born in France, had originally signed a two-year contract in July 2024 with Al-Qadsiah. At that time, Al-Qadsiah had recently been promoted to the Saudi Pro League. However, Aubameyang terminated this contract earlier this month.
During the 2023-2024 season, Aubameyang impressively scored 30 goals across all competitions. This achievement made him the first Marseille player to reach such numbers since Didier Drogba did so two decades ago.
