The Ajman Government has announced a reduction in official working hours during the summer, as part of its "Balanced Summer" initiative, effective July 1 to August 22, 2025.

Ajman - WAM

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Human Resources Department of the Government of Ajman has issued a directive to reduce official working hours in government bodies during the summer holiday. This initiative is part of the "Balanced Summer" project and is effective from July 1 to August 22, 2025.

Enhancing Quality of Life

This measure is part of the Ajman Government's commitment to enhancing the quality of work life for employees, supporting the balance between professional and social life, especially during the students' summer vacation. It aims to strengthen family ties, achieve greater societal stability, and aligns with the Year of the Community objectives and Ajman Vision 2030, which places humans at the center of sustainable development.

The directive outlines that official working hours from Monday to Thursday will be reduced to seven hours daily, from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, while a remote work system will be applied on Fridays for jobs that can be performed remotely. The work hours on Fridays will be limited to four and a half hours, from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The directive also requires government entities to implement flexible working hours, ensuring that employee work hours do not fall below the official set hours. Additionally, it mandates organizing shift times to meet the needs of different entities while ensuring the continuity of services and maintaining an adequate number of employees in organizational units directly interacting with customers during official hours on weekdays.

Monitoring Employee Productivity

The directive emphasizes the importance of monitoring the productivity of remote employees through the electronic system approved for remote work in the Government of Ajman. It requires the entry and monitoring of assigned tasks and responsibilities by the direct supervisor. Government entities are also expected to provide the Human Resources Department with the required data to calculate productivity indicators and assess the implementation efficiency of the initiative.

Supporting Employee Stability

Rashed Abdulrahman bin Jabr Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Human Resources Department of the Government of Ajman, stated that the "Balanced Summer" initiative reflects the wise leadership's vision of making humans the focus of government policies. The initiative aims to support employee stability and enhance productivity by adopting flexible work patterns that promote a motivating work environment and consider the familial and social needs of employees.

He explained that this initiative aligns with Ajman Vision 2030 and the Year of the Community’s objectives. It helps instill values of community cohesion and builds a more flexible and sustainable work environment. This balance between professional demands and family life for employees is achieved through these measures. The department will prepare a final report to the Executive Council, including a comprehensive assessment of the initiative's results and key recommendations to enhance its future outcomes.
