The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office announced on Thursday that authorities had responded to an incident involving falling debris in two locations within the ICAD 2 industrial area in Abu Dhabi.
The incident occurred following the successful interception of an unmanned aerial vehicle by air defense systems.
According to the official statement, the debris fell in two separate spots inside the ICAD 2 zone after the drone was intercepted before reaching its intended destination.
Authorities confirmed that the situation was quickly brought under control by specialized teams who responded immediately to the scene.
The incident resulted in six injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The injured individuals are reported to be of Pakistani and Nepalese nationalities.
Emergency services promptly transported the injured to nearby hospitals and medical facilities where they are currently receiving the necessary treatment and medical care.
Officials emphasized that the interception of the drone was successful and carried out by the country’s air defense systems as part of ongoing security measures aimed at protecting infrastructure and residents.
However, fragments resulting from the interception fell within the ICAD 2 area, leading to the injuries reported.
