The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Claims Court issued a ruling ordering a girl to pay AED 10,000 to a woman who had mistakenly transferred the money to her account. The woman refused to return it despite her request.

In the case details, the woman filed a lawsuit demanding that the defendant return the amount, plus 12% legal interest from the date of the claim until full payment, and to charge her fees and expenses.

She explained that she had transferred the amount through a banking application by mistake and contacted the woman to return it. She promised to do so but did not comply, prompting her to file a complaint, for which the defendant was convicted.

The plaintiff attached a copy of the criminal judgment and proof of the bank transfer.

The court stated that a criminal judgment is binding before a civil court if it adjudicates the act at the heart of the lawsuit.

It confirmed that the incident involved the defendant's seizure of a sum of money belonging to the plaintiff with the intention of claiming it as her own, a matter for which a previous criminal judgment had been issued.

Accordingly, the court ordered the defendant to return the sum of 10,000 dirhams, in addition to paying the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
