The UAE extends its higher tariffs on steel products to support local industries.

The customs authorities in the United Arab Emirates have announced an extension of the increased tariff on steel reinforcement bars and coils to 10%, up from 5%. This adjustment will remain in effect until October 12, 2026.

According to Dubai Customs' notification No. 14/2025, this decision follows a previous announcement No. 2/2023. It is based on directives from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (Ref. No. 99/44742 dated July 14, 2025) and a letter from the Ministry of Finance (Ref. No. 033146/7/2025 dated July 1, 2025). These documents addressed the resolution made by the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee during its meeting on June 1, 2025. As per this directive, the customs authority has resolved to maintain the elevated tariff rate at 10% until October 12, 2026.
This extension has been effective since October 9, 2025.
