Ray-Ban Meta, a new line of smart glasses that fuses traditional eyewear with innovative technology, will officially launch in the UAE on May 12. Customers can find these glasses at all Ray-Ban retail locations and partner opticians throughout the region.
This cutting-edge collection allows users to capture high-resolution photos and videos effortlessly, listen to music through advanced open-ear speakers, and leverage Meta AI for assistance while on the move.
The launch event featured notable attendees such as Yusra Mardini, Joelle Mardinian, Omar Farooq, Pia Jauncey, and influencers Nora and Khalid. Guests enjoyed a musical performance from Sarah Hardan and DJ Pascal Moscheni, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Ray-Ban and Meta Introduce AI-Enhanced Eyewear to UAE
This event kicks off a month-long promotional presence at Gitano beach club, running until June 5.
The smart glasses boast a remarkable 12 MP ultra-wide camera capable of capturing 1080p video, providing a stunning portrait-mode experience.
Their open-ear sound technology delivers enhanced bass and noise suppression, while five built-in microphones enable seamless transitions between music and calls, all while maintaining awareness of one's environment.
For content creators, the glasses offer a livestreaming feature that allows them to broadcast experiences live on platforms such as Instagram or Facebook for up to 30 minutes, easily toggling between the glasses and phone camera.
The integration of Meta AI allows users to invoke features by saying ‘Hey Meta,’ facilitating various tasks.
Users can ask for information on landmarks, translations, recipe suggestions, or local attractions by using voice commands, with live translation features expected to be rolled out in the UAE later this spring, supporting conversations in Spanish, French, Italian, and English-even in offline mode with pre-downloaded language packs.
The collection includes classic styles such as the Wayfarer and Wayfarer Large, as well as a new design called Ray-Ban Skyler in Shiny Chalky Grey.
Lens options available include prescription, tinted, clear, polarised, and Transitions® varieties, with prices starting at AED 1,330. Each pair comes with a charging case, and the glasses are compatible with the Meta AI companion app (accessible on iOS and Android), enabling users to edit content, apply effects, share on social media, and manage multiple pairs of glasses from a single interface.
With regular software updates promised to enhance the AI capabilities over time, users can expect these smart glasses to become increasingly sophisticated and invaluable.
