Kuwait announces June 26 as a public holiday for the Islamic New Year.
The Kuwaiti Cabinet has announced that Thursday, June 26 will be a public holiday to mark the Islamic New Year, also known as the Hijri New Year.
On this occasion, all ministries and government institutions across the country will be closed for the day, resuming operations on Sunday, June 29.
The decision was taken during the Cabinet's weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
Islamic New Year in Kuwait
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to Amir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al Sabah, and all Kuwaiti nationals in celebration of the Islamic New Year.
